15-22 barrel thread converter

Looks like it will work. With a compensator threaded on it it will extend the muzzle by a couple of inches and look dorky, though. :)

It's probably fine for a flash hider, but I would NEVER use one for a supressor. Too much risk of a baffle strike.

I completely agree. Ya gotta pony up the cash for a supressor, don't cheap out on the threading job. BELT_FED mentioned he can do the job. Look him up, or check the classified section for threading barrels.

Looks like a sure cure for an ever-loosening barrel nut! All you've gotta do is twist to check tightness. If my other "fixes" don't permanently work I'll surely give this some serious consideration. Mike in TX

I just sent my barrel up thru the great white north in Minnesota to get threaded 1/2" x 28 today. I'm just going to install a standard A2 flash hider. A friend recommended this place up there and they will do it for $49.00 which includes the ride back home in the fed-ex truck.

.

so this converts the barrel so that it is threaded but then what exactly is M&P15-22 Barrel Tools and Accessories - M&P15-22 Parts, Tools, and Accessories. Is the barrel shroud the black piece only, and what is the piece sticking off the end of the barrel??

Also what exactly is the point of buying the barrel nut tool if u can just order the piece that screws into a non threaded barrel

I bought the Midway Flash Hider and about half of its barrel is solid and the other half is mostly open.

I'm going to the gunsmith tomorrow to have the gun barrel threaded. How should I tell him to install the flash hider? Covered/solid side up, down, or to one side?

I know it's just for style but I want it to be done correctly.

TIA.

It looks like it converts the non threaded muzzle to have threads for flash hiders & stuff. The long round piece looks to be the shroud over the barrel. The piece sticking off the end of the barrel is a flash hider, flash suppressor, muzzle brake, depending on which department you are trying to satisfy.
The barrel nut tool lets you loosen or tighten the barrel nut. The barrel nut holds the barrel onto / into the upper reciever. It also holds the stock handguard in place.

You got me... The picture of just the shrouds shows no threads. But in the picture with the shroud on the rifle it shows a flash hider at the end of the shroud.

My guess is that the shroud does come with threads and the pictures are misleading. Surely they aren't making it a two-piece affair with the thread converter and shroud having to be separately attached with set screws. Regardless.... I think it's a better idea to just get the rifle barrel threaded .

i love it that they have their cantilever mount on backwards in the videos on the site.
