I've decided to go with a 4x scope and red dot as in the picture.

I'm looking for an inexpensive carry handle but want one that at least mounts straight. I saw a CAA at a local shop today. They also had a 15-22 for sale so I asked him to mount it. It was at least 1/16'' crooked on the rail. Any suggestions for other carry handles? I'd like to find a composite handle but I don't think there are any?

I have a CAA on my 15-22 and it is straight as far as I can tell. I have a four power scope mounted on it and it shoots nice. Could there have been something wrong with that particular handle?

I believe mine is a CAA, not 100% sure though. I got it at a local shop for $32. As far as I can tell its perfectly straight. In another month or so I plan to put a scope on it.

When I got mine the shop also had an Armalite for $120. I looked at them closely and found no difference in them at all.

If you ask me the gun looks 100% better with it on.

Thanks guys. Must have been a bad handle that I looked at if yours are ok. I'll order one on the net somewhere.

Also, sorry for that ad popping up by my post. I have no idea what/why/how??? Maybe it's something to do with the new Google Chrome? Anyone know?

The M&P 15-22 rear sight base cranked all the way down is 1.046" high (the flat part of the movable base to the top of the rail). The detachable handle I have on my desk is 0.991" high. The 0.055" height difference is significant but workable -- the sight will not interchange with the handle without rezeroing as that's the same as nineteen (19) clicks of the rear sight.

My ancient Colt 3x20 sight for the M16A1 fits this handle perfectly but I recall it will not fit on some Brand-X handles.

So.... maybe I'd be just as well off with a flat top adapter and staying with the S&W rear sight?

My old Colt scope looks like this and I doubt it'll fit on the adapter you linked due to the spring and lever in the mounting system. This is judging strictly from the photos. :)

Right. I've got the same spring/lever on the 4x attached to my Bushmaster in the photo. I'd have to replace the spring/lever with a thumb nut from one of my other mounts for a carry handle.

I've always liked the Colt style tubes. The one I have is a clone with a 34mm tube. Warne makes a low profile set of 34mm scope rings for $50 bucks. I guess I could take off the see-thru mount from the scope and use Warne rings atop a 3/4 riser and just forget about BUIS. If nothing else... it would be unique

I'm not sure about the integrity of the scope body if you remove the screws holding the base on, they may leave holes into the center of the scope and allow moisture to get in.
