15-22 customized paint

Hi all,

I recently painted the engraved inlays of both my wife's and my M&P Shiels. Hers in pink, mine in silver. It looks great and really "pops" on the metal slide. It was a very easy process using rubbing alcohol, nail polish an non-acetone remover.

I would like to do something similar on my 15-22 but have some concerns. First, the engraved portion is on poly and not metal, second, it is much deeper then the enlays on the Shield. Has anyone done this? If so, what process did you use?

Many folks have simply used crayons and filled the lettering with whatever color(s) strike their fancy. You can do the same thing with Testor's model paint, acrylic hobby paint, lacquer sticks and ... well, you get the idea.

There's a whole thread on the subject somewhere on the forum, but I don't remember how long ago.

I used a couple of Lacquer Sticks (red and white colors)on my 15-22. Just rub the stick over the letters you want to highlite, let set a few minutes, then wipe off the excess with mineral oil. Let it harden overnight, sets up really good.....works like a charm!

i actually finally did this this week on my 2 xd's and my 15-22. i had originally used an ultra fine red sharpie on the "fire" but it was a bit spotty so i used red nail polish. no issues and came out great. doesnt hurt to do a couple of coats.

Great...thx! I was worried of chemicals damaging the ploy surface. If anyone has pics I would love to see some color options.

This is the only picture I have at the moment, but should give you some idea of what the lettering looks like. The "SAFE" is colored in red (hard to see this picture) and the rest is colored white.....

I used finger nail polish pens.. my wife has red green black and white there a fine point like a pen but longer tip.. i did m&p in red and 15-22 in white did it almost twp months ago an still looks like i just did it
