I acquired about 1.5k of some "Rushmore" (brand) 155gr. LSWC(s). My main use would be in my 625s (3 & 5"). I'm not looking to push them too fast, just target loads. I may use them in my 1911 and Sig 220 as well if they feed properly.

Any load suggestions for these light bullets??

Thanks.

I use them in my 1911 comped Bullseye gun with good results. I use 4.5grs Clays with a 1.235" OL that run 903fps in my gun. I've also used Red Dot 4.6-5.2grs for 842-957fps. Titegroup 5.2grs gave me 862fps and all gave me good groups, but I'm only running a 8# spring in my gun so you would need to pump them up for your Sig.

handgunner,
Thanks! I also have a big supply of 700-X and will try it too!

VonFatman:

I've been using 150, 155 and 160 LSWC in 45 ACP for five years now with good results. My favorite load is with 4.5 of Clays except my OAL is 1.250". I'm using a 16lb recoil spring in my 1911.

Hodgdon has a fair amount of load data for the 155 gr LSWC on their website. www.hodgdon.com

Yer welcome!

I tried the OAL, 1.230" I think, specified by Hodgdon with Clays and found the consistency of the loads increased quite a bit as measured by my chrono along with a small velocity increase over the 1.250" OAL I use. On the range I couldn't tell the difference so I just stuck with the 1.250".

I'm currently using the Kead 160 which has a flat base. I've had better results with it than the bevel base versions. Also, because the small tip on these lighter bullets I switched my seater plug from the traditional SWC to the round nose plug as it seemed to keep the bullets centered better. With the short bearing surface on these light bullets they don't seem to self align properly with the SWC plug. Some of mine were nonconcentric to the case to the point they wouldn't go through a case gauge.

Anyway, after getting all of that sorted out the light bullet is my standard load.

Recon,
I tried both seaters and switched from the RN to the SWC type...same issue, my SWC seated did better on my 650...I'm using Dillon dies too.

I will see how this 1,500 bullets perform, I may stay light.

I bought a bunch by accident from Oregon Trail, don't know if the shape is the same. I run 5gr of Bullseye, shoulder flush with the case mouth.

Accurate enough for Bullseye @ 25yds from a 1911.
