1854 - anyone replaced the stock iron sights?

New to lever actions. I searched the forum, so sorry if this has been covered--but it seems like a niche question about a product not many on here own. Anyway here goes. Hunting whitetail in East Coast forests. This year will start on a buddy's land with range about 5-25 yds, likely close to 10 yds. Not one week later, next hunt is in open country, range more like 50 yds. I have a QD mount on order for my Vortex 4-12x40, but that first hunt will need to be iron sights. (Finally, the question) Has anyone upgraded them? For example, fiberoptic? Anything with a bit more precision than the stock XS Ghost ring?
