I have one just like it but mine has pearl (plastic) grips and the ser. number is 770xx. Nearly all the nickel is gone. I have shot it and it shoots pretty good for an old gun.

I also have one with pearl grips, serial number 215***,and have shot it some. I know you can't tell much by one picture but the one in the picture appears to be close to original. The cylinder and recoil shield look brand new. Regardless, I think they are neat little guns.

If you mean that the asterisk after the 7319 is a star stamped on the butt, then the gun has been repaired/refinished at some time in the past, at least once, by S&W. There should be a date code stamped under the grips on the left grip frame to tell when the work was done. Ser. # 7319 was made in 1880, as a 2nd model .32 Double Action. As a refinished gun, it has little collector value, but would be a good shooter, if it's in good mechanical condition. Value is in the $175- $275 range at most gun shows. Ed.

"Ser. # 7319 was made in 1880, as a first model .32 Double Action." Whoops, I think Ed should have said "Second Model" as there are only 30 First Model .32 DA's made. Mike #283

I'm sorry if I mislead anyone with the *. I am still new to the forum and noticed lots of people would not post the complete serial number on their gun. The serial number is 73191 for what its worth. The gun has a few character marks but honestly looks like it is in great condition. Thanks for the information on value. I did fairly decent with the price I got it for.

I think the 32DA guns are real gems. I'm starting to see prices go up on G-B, though not too badly.
They are a joy to hold and shoot. Too bad they've got
only the muzzle energy of a 22Mag. Probably don't have much
penetration, either. I have carried them, though.
Glad you got such a nice one. TACC1
