19-2 3” authenticity letter arrived and it’s good news.
Being a square butt I figured possibly the barrel had been changed when I first got it .So I’m really happy it lettered as it did. No box or doccuments , it has some honest wear and was wearing Herret grips. I placed these magnas on it. I am a very happy camper. Being interested in the George F. Cake Co. I did a search and found a post in S&W Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1961 titled The "Cake" Company by member NavySCPO 07-10-2019 it is a very detailed read. I'm very appreciative of the knowledge and information available that members share here.

Interesting... Can't say I've ever seen (nor heard of) a 3" M19 with a square butt, that's a one of a kind configuration in my opinion.

I've owned three 3" M19-2s, all were (are) round butt guns..

it's rare enough to see a 3'' model 19 but one with a square butt frame, amazing!

mind sharing how you came across this piece OP?

In the mid 80's, I owned one from the late Russ Whistler estate.......Sold to Harrison Carroll, who waved it at our Dean of S&W Records...After much to and fro that gun was a prototype for the FBI............

3" 19-2

Great looking gun and I am assuming rare in that it is a SB. I am a fan of the 3" barrels and always keeping an eye out for them.

I have three 19-2 with 3" barrels, two blue and one nickel. All three are RB. My nickel and one blue shipped and lettered with target trigger and target hammer, The nickel was also shipped to George Cake Co in Berkeley in 9/1/1967. I have attached a few pictures and letters but I cannot master the big picture paste, lol.

Great gun. There was one like it in the RIAC auction on June 21st. It had presentation stocks on it. It was paired, in a lot with a Model 68. I think the winning bid was 3500, so with buyer's premium, tax, shipping and transfer, it would have been around 4500. If it had been on Sunday instead of Friday, maybe I could have been a player, but just a player.
