I'm wondering if the Doug Koenig .38 Supers have ramped barrels. I've got a 1911 9mm Pro Series and I'm thinking about having a .38 Super barrel fitted. I'm thinking that if the DK barrel is ramped I could just send the gun to S&W and have the PC fit a barrel to it then I could swap between 9mm and .38 Super when I felt like it. What do you guys think?

I tried to get the PC to put a 9mm barrel into a Koenig 1911 and was told no. They gave me some excuse that I have forgotten, but since I know nothing about fitting a barrel, I could not argue with them. It is probably feasable, and some 1911 gunsmith may do it for you, but I doubt S&W will... One way to find out, e-mail them and ask.

Tried calling S&W today, waited forever, never got a human on the line. Sent them an email this evening, we'll see what kind of response I get. If they won't do it I'll send it to Clark's, I know they will.

I do know that when i first acquired my 3566 TSW, a tactical double stacker that is essentially the "parent" of the 952, the gun was chambered in .356TSW (9x21.5). ammo was really hard to find, but on request, they installed 9mm barrels in 3 guns, including ones that were short (3 1/2"), and even threaded 4 1/4" replacements. These were all fitted with the Briley bushings and were incredibly accurate.

I have a DK 1911 in .38 Super.....it makes sense to install a 9mm barrel.

I had a shorty 356TSW like the one in your pics (no suppressor barrel on mine) and the PC was willing to fit a 9mm barrel to it for something like $250.

FWIW about 10 yrs ago I got a Kimber 1911 in 38 super, called Kimber and inquired about having a 9mm conversion setup for it. Was told no problem, cost would have been around $350. Never followed up on it as I was reloading so had little financial incentive.
Good Luck, Kevin
