I was thinking about changing out my stock grips from my 1911DK model to something other than the wood style that my be better for target shooting and some easy competions. I'm new to the 1911 scene so I was wondering if you could suggest a company that makes a grip that won't slip around in my hand especially if my hands get sweaty or its hot out. Thanks for any advice you can send.

There are probably 100 or so makers of grips for 1911,s

Brownells and Midway both have a large selection to choose from.

Hogue makes a wrap around rubber grip with finger grooves. They also make the same ones with the standard exotic woods that everyone else sells. I'm partial to them because I have small hands with short, stubby fingers. Some of the other grips are too thick for my comfort.

You can also buy Hogue factory seconds and overruns on the web site,

HogueAuction.com .

You have to look at the photos pretty closely because some of them are junkers. I've bought several, especially for 1911's and have been pleased with them.

The Hogue rubber grips with finger grooves work well as well as the ERGO rubber/polymer grips - I use both of them on different 1911's.

They are not pretty, but for shooting the Pachmayrs really give a good grip. They are on my Browning Hi-Power Practical and I love them. God Bless.
