Also if I buy it on the internet NIB will C/S be there if I need them? I have a M&P 9c bought new and of course it doesn't need help - maybe a bettr shooter! HA HA! Any help with S&W 1911 owners would be great. Thx. Woody

Recently having a similar question, I posted a similar thread. Here it is:
http://smith-wessonforum.com/e...?r=55910741#55910741

I have 2 1911Sc: Full size (5.0") and Commander size (4.5"). Very happy with them both.

Customer service will be there 101% for you, even if you buy a previously owned firearm.

Got an M&P9C in the works, myself. Looking forward to getting it out on the range.

Best regards.

I have a 1911 Sc Commander and it is a very nice gun. It is light in the hand and points very well. For a Commander size, it is decently accurate too.

The only gripe I have about it (which is probably true of all S&W 1911s) is that putting the slide back on is a bit of an ordeal. I shoot 22LR with my Ciener kit most of the time (cost) but when I want to switch back to the regular 45 slide, it is a awkward to put on.

Maybe there is a trick to it that I haven't learned yet.

You mean a 5" SW1911SC? Stainless finish slide and matching color SC frame?

I bought mine just before they discontinued the plain stainless slides on the SC models (and just before they offered the railed SC frame model).

I was told that they discontinued the stainless slide SC models as a result of tracking marketing trends. It seems their corporate folks decided the black finish models were more popular sales-wise than the plain stainless finish models in the SC line.

Mine has been a fine example. Reliable and accurate. However, if the railed SC frame model with the Melonite (black) treated stainless slide had been available when I placed my order I probably would've gone with the Melonite stainless SC model.

S&W is making something for just about any 1911 enthusiast, but they aren't shy about changing their product lineup as marketing trends emerge.

I havn't had any problems with my 1911Sc commander very accurate and reliable, which is why I carry it everyday.

CMM, what exactly is giving you trouble when putting the slide back on? The only problem I ever had was accidently pushing in the grip safety causing the firing pin safety lever to go up and inhibiting the slide from coming back.

My experience is that mine has been a totally reliable, feeds and extracts EVERYTHING I put into it. It is quite accurate, is comfortable to carry and when my 3913 is not on me, the 1911 Sc IS.
Put this into your collection as soon as possible...you will NOT regret it!

1911sc_right_small.jpg

Had mine for three years and I love it. It is a 4 1/4 inch and shoots great. It is the only bottom feeder I have and I wouldn't give it up!

I have had my 1911SC 4.5 for several years now. I have had about 800 rounds through it without a problem. My full size 1911's are my main shooters and this is more of a carry gun but I have so far fed hyrdra-shoks and Remington Golden sabers through it without a hiccup. I will say I completely dislike the magazines that came stock with it. They're hard to take apart and clean and they don't drop free of the mag well when ejected. I use Wilsons or shooting stars from McCormick instead. Small complaint though.

I jsut got one of these today. Used but only 50 rounds. Scored it for $650 (good?) so I was happy. I'm going to take it out shooting either mid week or next weekend. I'm excited and now I have to stock up on some 45 ACP ammo.

I was thinking about a 1911 until I saw how it was disaseembled & put back together on youtube. Seems tough to maintain & clean but I guess it gets better with practice...

I had one and got a buddy to trade me out of it. I had no problems with it what so ever.

While it's not as simple as the plastic guns to take apart it is not at all hard to do, I actually like cleaning my 1911 more then the simple guns.

I got this gun about two weeks ago and took it apart first thing. Watched the videos a couple of times before hand.

First time putting it back together I had some difficulty. Didn't want to force anything, somehow got the barrel out of alignment, put it down, took it apart and went back through it. Got it back together so I took it apart right then to see if I really was making a mistake.

After about 4 times of doing it I can do it without a video or feeling scared. I felt the same way when I got my first revolver and my first semi auto.
