Stopped by a LGS and got handed several 45 caliber barrels for older S&W's. All appeared to be 5 inch and no shrouds. Three were cut for the knob style rod and were marked DA 45 as I recall and one was cut (modified maybe) for a standard rod and was marked I.N.A. on the right side. Any idea what this last one is? Not the best condition but all appeared useable.

The owner wasn't there so not sure on pricing. I will check back and get pics & price. I'd be glad to pass them along at cost if you have a need. PM if you do.

The INA marked bbl is a replacement made in Brazil by their Gov't arsenal.
These were extra/replacement bbls for the S&W 'Brazilian Model' 1917's they usd and issued at one time.

The revolvers were sold off as surplus and ended up in the USA in the early 90's courtesy of Navy Arms Co.
A lot of the bbl's as well.
Numrich sold many of the bbls at one time. Now even the INA bbls are hard to find.

We got two of the Brazilians, one for my brother and another for my uncle. Also, my girlfriend at the time had a 1917 inherited from her father. So while we were at it I ordered a couple of the INA barrels at the gunsmith where I worked part time. GF bulged the barrel on hers so one INA barrel went onto her 1917 (perfect fit) and I recently found the other sitting lonely on the back of a shelf in my dad’s safe. Someday it will come in handy!

I’ve used both the INA and the ITAJUBA barrels for many years on older models 1917/1937 revolvers. They are good shooting barrels and I’m certain that many S&W collectors wish that they were still readily available.
