Received a 1957 AMC in the mail today and was surprised to find the original mailing envelope and other brochures/papers that appear were sent in the same envelope back in 1957.
Is this correct?

I collect catalogs/circulars and don't actively collect brochures or papers and know very little about these so comments on date, rarity or collectability would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jamie, My guess is that a prior owner of the 1957 AMC collected other paper items related to S&Ws of the 50s and had them all in the factory envelope with the AMC. These items would not have all been included with the AMC mailing from S&W. Except for the copies of the magazine articles, the other brochures are S&W brochures available at the time period. Ed.

The article reprinted from Argosy in April 1952 features the 1950 45 Target shown below. It was sent to Pete Kuhlhoff in 1950 and features the first pair of target stocks made for an N-frame revolver and one of the first (if not the first) N-frame target hammer. The ad sheets for the 44 Magnum date to sometime after September 1956 (when the price was increased to $140) and April 1957 when an updated sheet was printed.

Thanks for the replies
Did S&W reprint the Argosy magazine article or circulate the reprints?

I didn't include details of the envelope that may change things, its visible in the 4th picture. This package is in an A4 envelope stamped "PRINTED MATTER" post marked Springfield Mass Apr17'57, with S&W printed mailing label attached. I don't doubt these fliers were added but I do note that it is a bit extreme for a 4 page AMC to be sent in a large envelope. My understanding is that single AMC were folded and mailed in standard letter (1/3 A4), DL 110x220mm envelopes.
Cheers.
