Hello Folks,

Searched around and didn't find much about suggestions for polishing nickel (might have cast too narrow a net). I've acquired a '58 Pre-model 10 M&P .38 in nickel. I'd like to do a conservative bit of polishing. Anything in particular you folks like to use? I know to avoid ammonia so as to not harm the copper plating under the nickel.

Thanks.

I always had very good luck with Flitz, just do it very gently and don't over do it.

I can't tell by your pictures if it is a 4 screw. Reason I ask is I have a model marked 10 shipped Oct. 59 that is a 4 screw. It would not make sense for a 58 gun not model marked to not be a 4 screw. (Grips not original)

I also vote for "light" polishing with Flitz, then Renaissance Wax.

Flitz worked great. The pics above a pre-polish, but now this thing gleams like a chrome bumper on a Kenworth.

Checked under the panel and it's got an "N" stamp, which I understand means it's a factory original nickel finish. The grip panels have the serial number stamped as well.

Looks like I made a good impulse buy today in a 95% 4-screw Pre-model 10.

Thanks for the tips, folks.
