Just picked up 17-2 in 98% at a local auction. Surprised I got it for only $375 with smooth targets. Photos to follow when I get it on my permit and sneak it in......I mean bring it home.

No, you meant sneak it in. A fine art and talent that takes years of apprenticeship before one becomes a true journeyman. Once journeyman status is acquired it takes 5 years of internship, before one becomes a Master Sneaker.

Oh, and you stole that gun !

At $375 I'd be waltzing through the front door singing at the top of my lungs if it were me! I've wanted a 17 for many years, now.

Photos, finally

Photos added. I can not get a decent shot, dang it...but it is almost flawless except for a little bluing loss on one area.from I assume bad storage.

A 17 at that price just does not seem possible. It would have been a spectacular deal even if it came wearing hot pink Goodyears.

A little background --- How did that one slip through an auction so lightly? Man , that's about 50% .

He was obviously at an auction that does not offer online/phone bidding. While good for the auction company, internet bidding has pretty much destroyed the chance to find bargains on a lot of things such as guns at auctions.

The auction was for a collection of western memorabilia. Roy Rogers posters, old saddles, and such. Only a few firearms, so the normal collectors were not there, I guess. Bidding started at $500, no one bid, he dropped it to $300, got a bid. I went $325, other bidder went $350, I said $375 figuring I would chase it back to $500 or so, but the other bidder quit. Hammer down at $375! I am not sure who was more surprised, me or the auctioneer.

Even $500 would have been a fairly good deal.
