.22-250 BDL varmint rifle in VG cond. Also has a Weaver scope with a Mauser Hair trigger.

My Dad no longer shoots and has a guy interested in buying. I don't hunt or have a place to fire long distance. Dad could also use the $.

What would be a fair asking price?

Thanks.

500-650 is probably reasonable

EDIT Need to know the brand of the scope. If its an old Unertl, Lyman, etc the scope may be worth a lot. Post a pic or send me a PM

Well pops took it to his local gun place and started a bidding war.

Started off at 375.00 and went from there....up to $650!

He still has it and will ask no less than that from the potential buyer.

I'm glad for him, atleast he'll get out what he put in it plus a little more.
He can put that towards his golf weekend.

Good for him!

My Model 700LH is a left-handed BDL model that was made the month I got married, in 1973. Caliber is .270Win and it is a good lookin' and accurate early M700. My best three shot group was one ragged 3-shot hole . . . at 150 yards from the bench . . . a keeper for sure. With the right load this hunting caliber rifle averages a tad less than 3/4" at 100 yards. Not bad at all for a caliber not known as being a great benchrest caliber! Those old Remington M700s could shoot! I imagine your dad's, in 22-250 would be a real tackdriver!!!

I wouldn't trade it for anything and its going with me soon to my little 1967 camper-trailer at the hunting club. As all the early ones, you have to put the gun in the "F" position to open or work the bolt.

Yeah, I'm old school and my ATV is a 1985 Honda 250es "Big Red" THREE WHEELER! There's nothing wrong with well-maintained, vintage products of excellent manufacture!

Here's the way the BDL stocks looked in '73. I imagine the '66 stocks were similar. The rifle is sitting on the hide from a piebald whitetail buck I harvested on the club with my Model 29 revolver:

That's a nice lookin piece TomTurner.

I talked with dad last night and he told me it didn't have the black tip, but my memory isn't great and it's been years since I've seen her.

Maybe the VERY early productions lacked that.

I told him not to get rid of the other few pieces, like a Stevens 311 double barrel and an old Remington Model 11 that weighs about 10 lbs. Those will be mine some day. Which I fear is getting closer.

Call Dad and tell him your sending a check for $700 for that Remington, I hate to see good firearms getting sold instead of staying within the family. My sister in laws father passed, he had some guns and she gave them to me. Both my brother and her are "gun intolerant" but they knew I would give them a good home:)

I'd love to, but I don't have the $, nor would he accept it from me.
