Hopefully someone may know the answer to this. I have searched the internet and cannot find out what this part is.
I have a 1999 Powerstroke F350 truck. There is a part that screws into the intake manifold that is close to the tube that comes up from under the engine.
After removing the unit, it is about 1 1/4 in diameter where it screws into the engine, is about 4 inches long and has a coil. It has 2 wires that hook to it, one black and one red separated by a insulator.
The stud that the wires attach to has burnt off and the wires are just hanging there.
Does anyone know what this part is called?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Intake air temp sensor?

Go to an auto part store, they will have a parts manual.

I do not know diesels, I work on Harley's.

I love diesels. Wished they weren't screwing us on the fuel prices. At one time, I owned a diesel car, a diesel truck, and a diesel boat. What wonderful machines, those diesels.

I found the very small number on the part. It is made in Ireland.
Found a couple of foreign web sites that listed the part number. Crossed that with USA companies.
It is a Air Intake Heater (the foreign sites referred to it as a intake glow plug).
Did some more research and it can be removed without any problems. Wow, what you have to go through to find certain parts. I have never seen a vehicle part made in Ireland before.
Thanks for the replies.

If the wires are burned and do not come with the new part, extend the wiring , solder and heat shrink. Good luck. Your research effort was worth it, saves the diagnosis charge.

I will have you know, if it wasn't for beer, we would have conquered the world.:)

You guys have overlooked the most common car part made in Ireland, the O'Dometer.

Let's drink to that!

Chris

Way ahead of ya, I am enjoying a Molsen Golden right now.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but I'll drink to anything.
