hi, just joined the group. picked up my 1st S&W, a shield plus. enjoyed shooting it at the range yesterday. I'm no pro, I'm happy to be grouping in center mass. the two people next to me had groupings in about a 3" diameter lol. don't know what they were shooting but it was impressive to see.

coupl'a questions....

is there a way to find the 'born' date of the gun, the date it was built?

also what's the group's take on using the term "pew pew"? is it like going into a guitar store and playing stairway to heaven or, if used sparingly, it's acceptable? :)

ok thanks, and only partially kidding about pew pew.

If the date isn't on the box end label, give S&W customer service a call. With the serial number they can help you out. I don't know if their policy has changed, but in the past the date S&W provides was the date it shipped, not the actual date it was built.

As for "pew pew", it's mildly childish, but that's me. Welcome aboard. :D

Welcome to the S&W Forums. S&W cannot provide a "born on" date, but they do keep records on the date that every firearm is shipped from the factory. Call S&W, they should be able to tell you over the phone when it left the factory based on its serial number.
