My local pusher has the above gun in the display case for $400 with a tyler grip adapter on it. I didn't handle it so don't know if it's pinned & recessed or not, looked about 90+%, I could see some blue wear on the front grip strap, good deal?

I have 4 other .357's, inlcuding a Model 66-2 2 1/2", but that 19 is haunting me, but he also have a new Ruger SP-101 for $469, and I'm not even really gun shopping! He did have lots of ammo, so picked up some .22 and another clip for my Ruger .22, but this whisper in my head, Model 19, sigh, what can ya do!

In some places that's the in-between price. I've seen them higher and once in a great while lower; mostly depends on condition.

That's on the high side of a good price, but more and more of them are in that range. Don't think of it as paying too much, just buying a little too soon. The value will soon be that much and more the way prices are going.

the 1st one ive seen for sale in PRK in a long time is available at $850. It hasnt moved at that price in a few weeks but i think it would go fast at 600-700. im a buyer all day long at $400 as you describe... (PRK Prices)

Last one I saw in NW Louisiana was $475 and not pinned and recessed. Dealer had it and a 4" 586 with a couple of issues for $495. Wouldn't come off either of them. I went back the next week for them and they were gone.

This is funny. I didn't see this post until last night- after I brought home the very model 19 Bobcat was talking about. I didn't know there was another forum member in NE Montana (incidentally, I'm also a bobcat).

I'm glad you bought it because I was sorely fighting temptation even tho I don't need it, of course, what's need got to do with it? What dash is it? Good it went to a fellow bobcat and S&W afficiando, nice catch.

I have a Model 19 2 1/2", blued, in the original box with papers, in excellent condition. I paid $575 for it in Phoenix a couple of months ago. It was made in 1975, and of course is pinned and recessed with numbered stocks. I'd consider it a premium gun, so I paid an upscale price for it, with the box and all being considered. The quality is amazing; it works like a jewelled watch and is great to shoot.

It's a 19-3. P&R. It was possibly a little high at $400, but I had some trading stock and Lowell was game. Plus I've always wanted a snub 19, and have had my eye out for a used one since I let one get away a few years ago.

Shot it last night with some 38 special reloads I had. Wasn't a precision grouping test, just shot offhand at my steel swinger at about 50 yards. I hung all 6 right in there.

I bought the two 19-5s shown below in 2008 for $550 (blued gun, 98% condition), and $445 (black matte gun, NIB condition). The black matte was part of a special run with that finish for the State Department Diplomatic Security Service.

I have a 19-4 P&R I gave $550 for. In great condition without the box. So it sounds like you would do okay.

POGO2,

You and I have the same taste in grips for Model 19 (and 66) snubbies. I consider the Ahrends grips just right for a K-round gun, with the 3-groove design. Conceal well, allow a good grip, and very comfortable to shoot. Nice guns!

I'm also intrigued by the Ahrends grips- I've had the gun for a few days now and have unequivocally decided I don't like the factory magnas with the Pachmayr grip adapter. In the market for something more comfortable yet concealable.

I've also been considering the Pachmayr compact professional grips.

The Pachmayr compact professional grips are superb. They don't cling to covering garments, and fill the hand nicely. I have them on my 3" 64-3, and 3" 13-3.

The Hogue Bantam boot grips are what is on my 2.5" 19, and 2.5" 66. They conceal easily as well.

It doesn't get any better than a 2.5 Model 19. Regards 18DAI.

18,

Grips clinging to garments is exactly my concern. I normally prefer Hogue rubbers on my larger square butt guns, but I know they will stick to a concealing shirt.

Between the Hogue bantams and the Pachmayr compact professionals, which do you prefer?

Hmmm...tough call.

If not clinging to the cover garment is a primary consideration.....I'd have to choose the Pachmayr compact professionals. Not to say they are friction free, but they are the least "clingy" rubber grips on cover garments, that I've experienced. They offer very good control as well.

If "feel", which is very subjective, were the primary consideration, I would have said Hogue Bantams. They feel great, and make control with 357's out of 2.5" barrels VERY easy. Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI.

I never see one cheaper than 400.00 but I do not see many 2 1/2 inchers for sale.

Thanks, 18. I think I'm gonna go with the Pachys.

deanodog: I never see 2 1/2s either. That's why I grabbed it for what I thought wasn't a ridiculous price.
