I hesitate to refer to any production rifle as "rare" but this one could be considered "not common." The LSS, a stainless steel Model 700 BDL in a grey laminated stock, was last produced in 2008 and that was the only year it was chambered for the .257 Weatherby Magnum.
I bought it new in 2010 because of that low-ish production and only fired 20 factory loads to season the barrel. As I think the photos will illustrate, the rifle is as new as a used rifle can be.
I could only find two other ones in similar condition being offered for sale and at $1,250, this one is priced hundreds below either of them. Shipping from my FFL to yours would be $75; of course, if you live in Pennsylvania, we could meet for an in-person exchange. A certified check or USPS money order is preferred.
If you are thinking that my shipping charge is unrealistic, and I agree it sounds high to me too, I can show you my invoice from the last rifle I shipped (using the USPS) - $69.32 plus I had to pay for some packaging material. What happened to $35 to ship a rifle?
