2016 Mazda CX5’s have an issue with DRL’s going bad leading to replacement. Corporate has spent almost 3 years in denial but finally have acknowledged the problem. Quite timely as I had signed on to a Class Action Lawsuit just 3 days ago and was going to be one of the named plaintiffs.
Of interest, since I bought the vehicle in CT, I would be part of the lawsuit in CT.

The cost to replace the DRL is over $1,200 ( $631.31 was my cost) due to the design of the sealed one piece headlamp requiring dropping the front facsia, and replacing the unit as a whole.

Both mine failed, one under warranty 2018 the other 3 months out of warranty 2019 where I had to split the cost(luckily due to bargaining with Mazda)to replace.
Since then they have redesigned the headlamp and I have not had any issue.

Well, there is a NHTSA recall and Mazda is replacing all defective headlamp units at no cost and reimbursing those, like me, who have paid the repairs.
Yes, I still have the vehicle, and have had zero issues other than the DRL defect.
I think there’s a few owners here so this is for you. 2016 models only.

Thanks, that’s good to know. Have a 2016 CX5. That’s an expensive recall. Just had the rear brakes replaced and the parking brake is electric. If you don’t set the rear solenoid in the repair mode, you will supposedly ruin the part when the pistons are collapsed to replace the brake pads. Could be an expensive mistake, Larry

Maybe now they're done with that issue, the NHTSA can turn their attention to the slew of Hyundais I see with only the center stoplight working.
