209 Derringer

I came across this in the Cabela's catalog. It's a Derringer that uses ONLY a 209 shotgun primer to shoot a .177 pellet. Looks pretty fun to me.

Does anyone have one?

Cabela's -- 209 Derringer and Gamo Lead BBs looks interesting. Seems a bit pricey for a novelty. It would likely still be considered a firearm under state law in most places, and thus subject to the same laws regarding where one could be discharged I'd think.

I was thinking the same thing, $200 is pretty steep. And considering how a 209 cracks I doubt I would just step out back and shoot.

I have a bad habit of paying too much for something I take a liking to though, so maybe I'll have a range report sometime

The reason it's expensive is likely that like the others I've seen, they are made by Pedersoli in Italy- high quality for a novelty item.

I've got one of these. Dixie Gun Works muzzleloading, blackpowder and rare antique gun supplies. Pretty much the same thing, except it uses a percussion cap instead of a 209. Cabelas used to carry it. Cost 99 bucks back when I bought it.

Kinda neat, but accuracy is non-existent.
