22/32 kit gun

So I have a 22/32 kit gun Model 34 blue finish round butt 4 inch barrel with the original box and cleaning kit. also a second pair of grips one pair is dark wood and the other is a bone or something. So I am trying to find out when this was made and if it is a different variant or something. the serial number on the butt of the gun is 524xx and the same number is written in grease pen on the box. The Xs are numbers but I did not want to post the full serial number. There is a number on the yoke or crane and that is 687xx same thing again with the XS. Also on the inside of the yoke are the letters J,H,O just randomly scattered in different spots. On the right side of the frame there are 2 screws it has an adjustable rear sight and a large front blade sight. the top of the barrel has a recessed channel with lines and the top of the frame has a little recess and lines. So what is the lettering on the yoke
And can anyone tell me anything about this gun. I have never shot it and was wondering if I should ? or if it is a collectors piecee

A Model 34 Kit Gun with serial number in the 52000 range would be from approximately 1958-59. At that time, it was still built on the I frame. The 4" round butt configuration isn't special. They were made with either round or square butt.

The five digit number on and behind the yoke is an "assembly" number, used to keep fitted parts together during the assembly process. The various letters are fitter's and inspector's stamps. All standard stuff.

There are actually three screws on the right side, holding the side plate in place. One of them is hiding under the right stock panel.

Kit Guns have been going up in price, so you want to take care of it, the box and other items. However, that should not keep you from shooting it. Just don't carry it in a holster or do other things that might mar up the finish.

The Kit Guns are a lot of fun to shoot. Don't deprive yourself of the pleasure!
