.22 Ammo Price

Last July (2012) I believe I paid just under $7.00 for a 100 round box of CCI Mini Mag at a high dollar Ace Hardware in Highlands, N.C. Yesterday afternoon i paid $7.47 each for three boxes of the same ammo at a local Wal-Mart.

Cheaper Than Dirt, 16-Apr-12 $5.79 / 100 CCI Mini Mag Copper Plated.
Shipping drove the price up to $6.85.

Wall Mart price $7.47 + extortion of .075% = $8.03 actual cost. Higher extortion costs in many areas.

Extortion = tax, same difference.

On sale federal 525 was $18-19, normal was $22.

For most bulk 500-550 rd count box $22-24 was normal here.

CCI minimag was $7.50/100, iirc

M22 was $48/1k

Rem Golden bullets were $11 or 12 per 225.

Same here in IL and across the river in MO too.
Right now, it's about $4.00 for 50 rounds of Aguilla. That seems to be the only brand available.

Hi:
Prior to the "Shortage", what was the regular retail price for a box of .22 LR ammo ?
Jim, prior to 2008 a brick of 22's would run you $9.99 at the most and a price of $7.99 was a sale and Cabela's would run a super-sale for $6.99 once and a while. After the 2008 shortage a brick of 22's doubled and was rarely under $20 but some sales would see them @ $18.99. That's right, 22 ammo doubled in price and I feel it was because during the shortage the ammo manufacturers saw what some were willing to pay. Now they have seen some people pay over $100 for 500 to 550 rounds of .22 ammo, the same ammo that was under $10 before Obama was elected.

I fear when the prices do come down they will be doubled again from what it was before the 2012 shortage. I highly doubt we will ever see a brick of .22 ammo for under $30 but probably more like $40. We have no one to blame but ourselves. If everyone would have refused to pay the inflated prices we would have been better off but when the manufacturers see MANY shooters paying over $100 for a brick they will take what they can from us.

I'm very sad my grandchildren won't be able to shoot as much as I did when I was young because .22 ammo will never be cheap again. 99 cents for a box of 50 .22LR rounds will never happen again and it makes me sick to see some stores putting a price of $9 on a box of 50!

Immediately after O's first election I bought a case (5,000) of CCI Blazer 22 LR for $100 OTD at a gun show. After his second election, from the same gun show dealer, I bought a case for $190 OTD with sales tax. When I got home, a LGS had CCI Blazers on sale for $27 a brick, no limit!

oooo I cried a little reading that, I remember it cheap but forgot the 1/2 price of today. I should've got a 22 years ago.

Now the same case is $380 OTD,We will never see bulk packs of .22's for even $25 a brick. If the prices do happen to settle that low you will never be able to walk into a store and find them on any repeatable basis.Everyone will continue to hoard them and sell them on Gunbroker and Armslist for $50-$65 a brick.

Jimmy,

Last July Cabela's had the 525 Federal bulk packs for 14.99 all day everyday.

I just heard today from someone in the know, that ATK,
a major ammo manufacturer does not have any 22LR slated
for production until March or April of 2014.

The last 5,000 round cases of the CCI Blazer 22LR ammo I purchased was around $225 delivered. The last 500rd. Bricks my LGS had before the ammo rush was $18 a brick.

The last prices here for 500rd bricks were in a local bargain paper for $100 per brick. Let me see that's $1,000 for each 5,000rds. @ $225 case of ammo @ the original cost. Not bad for making 300% profit plus your original cost.

I'm calling BS like all the other conspiracy stories. Backordered until March or April 2014, absolutely. Not producing 22 ammo until 2014.... I'm not buying it.

Just like the DHS bought all the ammo

ATK is the parent company of CCI and Federal. I'm not sure how much 22 ammo Federal is producing daily but CCI is producing 3 million rounds of 22 ammo a day, every day. I have no idea where it's being shipped because none of the stores I know of can get any but they are making it...

I didn't say I believed it, or if it is true.
I am just passing on what I heard from a Blackhawk Distributor.

I just paid a nickel a round for Federal at Gander Mountain... Few and far between is how they are..

$21.99 for a Brick of Federal #510 Blue Box. $17.99 for a brick of Remington Thunderbolt (if you dared buy one).

Just a mere three years ago I bought Winchester Wildcats at $8.99 a Brick - if I only knew!!!
