Does anyone have any idea why the book value of these little .22 cal. Ladysmiths has dropped over the last few years?

I'm comparing the values as shown in both the 2nd Edition and the new 3rd Edition of the SCSW.
(2nd ed. 2001 and the 3rd ed. is 2006).

such as, Ladysmith 2nd model:

$600 Good in 2001
$400 Good in 2006

Having been involved in the guessing game of estimating "book" values for S&Ws for all the editions of the SCSW, together with a couple other dealer/collectors and Jim Supica, my advice would be "don't sweat the differences" you will find. These numbers are very subjective. When you look at the NRA definitions for "good" condition, ( rusted, pitted , missing or replaced parts, etc.) which is the definitions used in the SCSWs, a good condition gun is not one a collector is avidly seeking. Many sellers/dealers seem to think that any Ladysmith is a high dollar gun, regardles of condition. After they have them in their inventory or collection for a few years, and are "good" condition guns, and they don't sell at high asking prices, reality sets in and they move them out at whatever the market will pay. Bottom line here is that values in the SSCSW are best guesses by informed people, but they are still guesses. Of course you can always argue that the price was lowered so Jim could point to it any buy "Good Condition" Ladysmiths cheaper than before! ( Just kidding, Jim!) Ed.
