22 Compact

I just bought a brand new M&P 22 Compact first trip to the range after 30 rounds. The rear site fell apart, and I lost the rear site when did adjustment screw and spring. Smith & Wesson‘s response was terrible stating that rare sites for that gun are out of stock and they have no idea when they will be able to send me a new one.. by then asked if I could just order the parts and they gave me the same answer. I’ve been on all the aftermarket sight sites and every aftermarket one is coming up as out of stock. Also, can anyone help me find an aftermarket sight or parts for the original sight or does anyone have one to sell thank you for any help with this matter? I believe the gun will be a good gun, but however, I can’t determine that without a rear sight.

I've had my M&P 22 compact several years with no issue but I have read of others who had their rear sight disassemble. Sorry that S&W is no immediate help. It is a good gun.

Dawson precision offers sight sets for your gun but I don't think any are adjustable. Here's a link:

I adjusted mine and filled the windage hole with RTV sealant......So far it has held.....Mine was walking out as I shot it.......My friends did like yours and launched the screw and parts into orbit..........IT IS A CHEAP SORRY DESIGNED REAR SIGHT.

The factory rear sight on the M&P 22 Compact is the weakest part of the gun. It’s a cheap, pot-metal, two-piece design held together by a tiny screw and spring that will launch itself into orbit if you look at it wrong. I lost mine at the range too, heard a “ping,” saw the rear sight blade tumble downrange, and spent 20 minutes on my hands and knees. S&W told me the same thing they told you: “out of stock, no ETA.” That was three years ago. They still don’t have them consistently.

No excuse for any of this. S&W should be a LOT better.
