I have a couple of Semi's I will get pictures and post in the picture thread. Last year I painfully traded off three old-school S&W revolvers to land a deal on a 1956 M70 Winchester .243 in super great condition with an old-school Leupold. It was a painful trade, but I "needed" that 70. Anyway, I am looking at a Smith 4" Stainless, wood grips, 2205 - tell me about this one, good, bad, value, is there any years or generation better or worse, anything to be aware of?

The 422,622,2206, 2213 & 2214 series are great little pistols. With a EWK arms adapter they will host a suppressor. I have 1 of each.

I am not sure this one will, maybe - but it is at least 15 - 20 years old

I have the longer barrel version with adjustable sights. It has worked well with both subsonic and hi speed ammunition. I bought it as a suppressor host due to the low bore axis. It does not need tall sights to see over the can, and the EWK adaptor was easy to install.
That being said, my research indicated that while most worked just fine, some had functioning issues. Mine has been in the just fine side of things.

For me the 4.5" 2206 is the best balanced of the group. Mine has been a joy to shoot as long as I avoided Winchester ammo.

Loved my 2213 and have had it for years. Then a 422 landed in my lap on my birthday, had to buy it. Wandered into a LGS and found a 2206 sitting on the shelf and it had to come home with me. All were used but in great condition and all shoot fantastic. If a 622 is happened upon in my travels well no telling what will happen if the price is right.

Getting back to this one - so, this EWK adaptor, I'd just unscrew the spanning nut on the end of the barrel and screw this adapter in its place and walla - I have a threaded end to accept a suppressor, without altering the 2206 in any way?

Very nice, I prefer the heavier weight of the 2206 over the alloy frames of the 2nd Gen variants.

The ease of adding a threaded adaptor, the low bore axis that excludes the need for suppressor height sights and the extra weight of the all steel frame makes the 2206 the best kept secret in the search for a quiet .22 pistol!

So, I am guessing both of your pictures have the adapter - on my gun the spanner nut is near flush with the frame; and upon further evaluation it is apparent that this spanner nut has been removed at some point

2 things

1. The Alignment tool referenced in this instruction manual, I do not see on listed available on the EWK site - maybe I am not understanding this part
2. The Barrel Nut Wrench - is that recommended or did you all just use a spanner wrench. Close up of my barrel nut is obvious there was not a good fit up. Not sure what was used but it is not favorable for my likings.

The first one I removed I made a tool that didn't work very well as I was unable to find a spanner the right size. The nut ended up being buggered but eventually came off. For the second one I purchased the tool and the nut came off easily. It was well worth the price. EWK and DIP(the original designer of the adapter) have said to also remove the locwasher so that the adapter engages all the fine threading on the barrel.

Never saw the need for an alignment washer or tool that EWK now offers... The adapter does the trick quite fine.

Thank you - I will get the tool. This is so exciting. Now I have to get a suppressor. I am hearing Dead Air is probably about the best one out there - anyone have thoughts on that?
