I have a problem:

I purchased a new 22a from the local gun shop over a year ago, since new I have had an issue with the mags popping out of lock ,randomly, after I fire a round-doesn't happen every time but happens at least once with EVERY clip.

I shoot cci minimags-gun is picky, these are the only rounds that don't have ftl/fte

Can anyone help??

I have a 22A-1 Talo edition and found that I really have to push the magazines home firmly for them to latch into place. If you use the ball of your finger, it won't go in far enough - they are so narrow that you have to push with your fingertip.

I forgot to address your question about ammo. I have only used CCI MiniMag 40-grain plated solids and Federal GameShok 38-grain plated hollow-points in mine and it digests both with no problems. I don't have any other ammo to try as my Remington Model 541-T rifles shoot best with the Federal load and my Model 617 S&W revolvers shoot the MiniMag well. MiniMag also is the ammo recommended by most makers of 1911 22LR conversion kits due to its good functionality. However, I recently tested both shells, shooting 50 rounds of each over a chronograph into a target at 50 yards with one of my rifles, and the Federal load posted more consistent velocities with equal accuracy.

Put a loaded mag in with the slide held open and when you insert the mag make sure you hear a click sound, that sound will tell you the mag is locked in and ready for use, I have 2 pistols and have never had any ammo feeding problems.

I have tried all that you both are saying
I push the clip in (hard) and hear the click every time
I have the slide back before i put the clip in

My problem still occurs...
I dont know what else to do

Send it to Smith & Wesson. My brand new out of the box 22a dropped mags every 2-4 shots. Would not stay in no matter how well I seated them. The gun shot way to the left also without enough sight adjustment to fix. Smith sent a FedEx label and I sent it in. Kind of depressing for a brand new gun but they took care of it. It's been a great gun now for 2 years. Very accurate and no further issues.

Haven't noticed a problem with family members' M&P22 or 22A - although in the case of the M&P22 (which I have used more) I have noticed that with the slide closed it takes a bit of force to get a positive lock but the same amount of force with the slide open will often cause the node of the top round to pop up which would then cause a jam if you closed the slide without correcting.
Does the empty magazine lock in and also drop out correctly?
