I was wondering if any one here had experience with any of the various mag loading tools for .22lr? I have toyed with the notion of getting on off and on but so many .22lr pistol mags have that button to where I'm not sure if it would make enough of a difference convience wise.

On my S&W model 41, I don't use the loader, as it is pretty easy to load. I have a Ruger MK2 which has a button that sticks out the side of the magazine, and it used to make my thumb hurt to load it. I got a $3 plastic loader, and it made all the difference in the world. I got the loader from Midway.

Does that device actually work pretty well?

if you are asking about the ultimate clip loader, yes. The only issue is that some .22 manufacturers use a waxy lube that can eventually leave a gummy residue in the loader, and the rounds don't feed smoothly into the mag. Cleaning/wiping down with some dry lube like RemOil will take care of that. Dry lube, not wet.
