Got a kinda rough 27-2 5 inch gun from an auction ...cheap. I know it has been answered before but how wide was TT and TH? Did they have standard trigger TTTHs and an intermediate size? The gun is a bit rough but do want to put a correct set of stocks. I know never say never but the gun has what look to be TT TH but it came to me with goodyears not even on the gun...just added to the shipping box. Trying to clean it up but may have to have a reblue. S&W still do good blueing?? Price was really good....... really

Pics and a serial # would help. Off the top of my head it is likely a 1980 or so gun and would have come with either football targets or non-diamond magna's, both with silver stock circle inserts. Personally I would do everything I could to avoid a re-finish including selling it. Nothing wrong with a rough gun but rust could be a deal breaker for me. I think those later 27's often came with standard trigger & hammer and no red ramp.

Serial N 35003X has a red ramp front not a narrow trigger. Has some rust areas. Not a great bunch but only paid 220 plus BP of 10%. I have another that is great...don't shoot it as it's too nice.Going to shoot this one. May even put the goodyear set on. Do have targets and Magnas I can use either way. Just trying to find what probably came on the gun. I have both GA and Walnut targets. This gun had just a little rust /corrosion.there was another 27-2 long bbl in the auction pristine one side holy Toledo on the other...brought 60 dollars. And it had football targets. My 3-1/2 has std t an h and magnas

The widest target trigger was grooved and .500" wide, the target hammer was serrated and also .500" wide.

Sometime in the 70s, the target trigger was narrowed down from .500" to .400" width. Both versions were grooved. Optional combat triggers were initially .400" wide, but I have heard there are some factory smooth-faced combat triggers that are .500" wide also, though I've never actually seen one.

Sometime in the early 80s, the typical grooved standard trigger (.265" wide) was replaced by a smooth trigger that is .312" wide.

Correct stocks for your 27-2 are target stocks made of Goncalo alves which became standard, along with a target hammer, target trigger, and mahogany presentation case in September 1975.

This one has I think, .400 wide grooved trigger and checkered(serrated) hammer. Also .400 wide. I can't find my measuring tools. Has a very nice trigger single action about 3 1/2 pounds. Have GA stocks I can use and a 5 inch mahogany case...but the gun is just gonna be a shooter. Had a 6,6 1/2 and an 8 3/8 no dash. Sold them all. Like the 5 s and 3 1/2 inch. The really nice 5 inch is going to go...have a buyer that's been wanting it. Got to find a TT for my nickle 4 inch 29-2. Needs to be replaced. Someone narrowed both TT TH. Have a new TH.

Well I guess I have to measure the trigger and hammer. I have to get this computer fixed so I can post a pic

I have one. It was ordered on a Model 18-3 with TH and TS. I'm never turning loose of it.

Just looking a a target trigger and hammer it is very obvious. They are wide!
