My wife and I took her 28-2 to the range last week. She shot a couple hundred .38s and then started to have an occasional light primer strikes. It was obvious from looking at the primers the hits were light and most would fire on a second strike. After another 100 rounds, the gun would hardly fire at all. The primers had tiny dimples, but no real strikes. I'm no gunsmith, but I assume it needs a new mainspring? I pulled the mainspring out and it is pretty flimsy. If I'm off base here, let me know. While I have the gun apart, I'd like to replace all the springs. Anything else I should do or check? Any good kits available?

This is my wife's bedside gun.

That is where I would start. Mainsprings are fairly inexpensive and easy to swap out.

Usually when this happens it is screw backed out trigger pull feels real good but get light strikes must be a weak mainspring it happens just not often, have never replaced one in n frame but several k frames, have a 36 J frame suffering from same problem right now already have spring on way someone probably clipped too many coils off mine good luck with yours hate to see a 28 sick
