I just took out my (new to me) model 28 and am having failure to fire on about half the cylinders every time in double action. I didn't check to see if it was the same cylinders each time, but they would the second time the primer was struck. In single action everything went fine. Figured I would check the strain screw. Any help would be appreciated.

Install a new Factory mainspring and mainspring tension screw.
If the current strain screw is in fully tight (and has not been cut shorter by a kitchen table gunsmith) a new screw and spring will certainly fix the problem. If the screw has been shortened, a new screw will likely fix it.

Most likely the main spring strain screw has been backed out. Could also have been shortened. Unless the main spring has been tampered with, it will probably not be the problem.

Thanks for the help. The firing pin looked ok. I'll look into a new spring. For what it is worth it seemed to me that the trigger pull was a little light for an N frame. Much softer then my .44's.
