I was wondering if the 28-2 satin blue finish could be buffed to get a deeper glossy blue finish?
Thanks for the responses. Mine is in good condition. I was just wondering if buffing would do much if anything for the finish.
S&W gave my 4" "S" prefix 28-2 a makeover a number of years ago. I think it looks great.

I'm curious. The M-28 and the earlier "Highway Patrolman" were duty guns. Meant to be carried on the mean streets and highways by peace officers. They were tools with very special qualities that made them just right for the job.
If you polish it to a nice shine (no matter how you get there) you won't have a M28 Highway Patrolman any more. It will be a gussied up version of that.
Why not leave it alone, since you say it's in good condition, and buy a M-27 to satisfy your desire for "shiny"?
