Is it really that nice, or is it a high quality refinish? The side plate S&W logo looks thin to me, and the barrel roll marks look too crisp on the edges, like they were buffed flat with a hard-backed, barrel shaped abrasive.
Or was that how Smith did things 'back in the day?'
 
If that's a refinish, it's a fantastic job. I do notice that nowhere in the description does it say "all original" or "original finish" or similar.

In the grand scheme of things, somebody wanted it to the tune of $3k+. If the buyer is happy, I'm happy. :)
 
Nice gun, Special Oversize Target stocks were still standard in 1964, and the seller got an excellent deal.
 
$4k with tax/shipping/fees, seems at least $1k, maybe $2k too high to me. I don't see any definite signs of a refinish but that logo stamp seems pretty light and not very sharp although that could just be the photo.
