If it truely is a SS revolver,(I think you know the dif.) It is designated as a 629.
Almost all SS guns in S&W ...product line ...starts with 6.
New.... they command a higher price than blue or black.Used.... I would not pay more than 20 bucks more. (But that is me)

The Model 29-2 was not produced in stainless steel. The 29-2 is most likely refinished in something that resembles stainless (Metalife or Armoloy, etc.). These finishes are very durable and for $650 you would have a great shooter in 44 Magnum caliber.

I seen on line on another forum that they did not produce the 29-2 in stainless.this one is marked 29-2 and is stainless unless it was either blue or nickel and stipped down at some time, and if it was stripped down would it look like stainless?thanks.

The 29-2 came in Blue and nickel finish the 629 was the stainless version that came out later in 1980 If you friends is shiny silver it is nickel and if it dull it's nickel that needs to be cleaned and wax and you will be amazed at the transformation.

I just got off the phone,i found out it was a nickel finish stripped down.the owner before him wanted it to hunt with and it was too shiney.what a shame,i told him I am not interested in it.thanks bill.
