Kind of a subjective question I know.

Local pawn shop has a blue 29-2 6" (6.5?) in nice shape. The grips are dark like they have had too much oil over the years. Blue is very nice, slight loss of blueing at the muzzle from holstering. No box, just the gun.

General consensus, what is it worth?

By the way, its the one on the right.......

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Karnivore

I saw a nice 29-2 on GB yesterday. No box or docs. Looked in near excellent shape - not sure if the grips were original. $899 buy it now. And nobody had bought it.

The grips look like they might be rosewood, I have a few pair that are dark like those and to me they look like rosewood. Jeff

I can't argue with the others, but I thought with the case it would sell ... sooner or later, at or near the asking price. Not that I am offering to pay that much.

It looks like a 6.5" barrel to me.

That's the asking price for many that I see with a box. I was just at the Reno Show and that's what I saw there too. So, asking price...remember...

If it's an "S" serial number, it commands more and 1,200 would be a good deal. If not, and it's an "N," negotiate. A pawn shop didn't give that much for it.

I've bought them in a box in recent years for several hundreds less. and in the last 4-5 years for 600-700. And the 700.00 was a beautiful 29-2 "S" series.

Negotiate!!

I recently bought a 4" 29-2 "N" serial number, about 98%, for $750.00 plus the states cut. No box or anything else. I didn't have one and now I do:)

I think you did VERY good with that and a price like that is the exception.

I bought my N prefix 29-2 4" about 5 (?) years ago, near perfect condition, box, cleaning tools, owners manual, blank warantee card, S&W Combat grips and plain target grips for $925. When I asked the shop owner about wiggle room in the price he whipped out the gun Blue Book for that year and said he would show me that he priced it right. He was upset with himself for not checking the book before pricing it as the gun alone was valued at $1050 at that time, with none of the extras. I am still very happy with what I paid for the whole package. Everyone here said I got a great deal too when I posted up about it.

Now I just need on in nickel :D
