29-2 with 6.5” barrels

Hello all, been in search for a 29-2 with a 6.5” barrel. First one I paid for at cabelas in another state and had it shipped to my local cabelas. Beautiful shape, real nice. I then noticed that the barrel was not indexed correctly (front sight kicked left and barrel rib did not line up with frame)and the rear sight was adjusted for it. I passed on it. Yesterday I looked at another one at a lgs and it was the same thing all over again. Beautiful shape hardly used awesome looking. What’s up with these. Both said it can be fixed and I realize that. Obviously at a cost. Nope not putting that money into it. Is this common or something?

I have seen this happen with some regularity, with Smith and Wesson and other manufacturers. Although, I did not observe it often with the pinned and recessed models, it seemed to be more common with the advent of the crush fit. The Smiths and Ruger revolvers that I have encountered with the problem were simply returned under warranty, all were recent production.
