Picked this up today. It was posted on the bulletin board at a local gun club. A buddy passed it on to me. It looks all original I'd give it 95%. Price was right ( I think) plus 120 rounds of ammo. It looks righteous to me and I think they are coke stock. 6-1/2" 4-Screw Ser # S 201###, roughly 1960.

Are these cokes? Or if something else doesn't look right I'd appreciate the input. Approximate value?

Yes, definitely cokes. Nice gun, looks better than 95% to me. Box/papers?
I paid about $2700 here on the Forum for one (January, 1959) a few months ago which appears to be in about the same condition although with blue/black correct box/tools. Have seen them for a little more or a little less depending. . . . Enjoy.

Gonna have to change your username to "Dirty Whelen" now. :D Gorgeous revolver, congrats on the find.

Well maybe Dirty as a middle name. Not by any design I find myself with three N-Frames 44s. Early last year I bought one more out of impulse, the 629 ND 8-3/8". Then couple months ago I felt the need to replace a 5", had one before, sold it and regretted it. So, I bought this 629-4, my favorite shooter. I had money ear marked for an early 610 but when this 29 ND 4-Screw pops up I couldn't let it pass. Feeling really fortunate about the 29 it's a real beauty.

I was hoping someone would offer an estimate value of the gun. Also, an original box, is the serial number on it?

Thought I did, make an estimate that is. Is there a better estimate than actual recent sales price from here on the Forum classifieds? $2k+/- for the gun, another $600+/- for box and tools, assuming it is the blue/black box. Later ones, and yours might be one of those, came in the clamshell wooden presentation case; I'd guess maybe $300. By 1959/60 I don't know that the SN was still being written on the bottom of these boxes.

Yes you did and please excuse my ignorance but yours included the whole package(box, tools, papers) and I don't know how much that would add to value.
thanks for additional info.

Wow that's a good looking Model 29. Looks like you found a nice one.
Looking at the SnapOn vice you have the gun cradled in reminds me of my bench vice in my shop. It is the same vice as yours.
