Found this on an gun trader sight today listed for $470! I immediately sent an email and said I wanted it.
It's a 3" 624 with combats. Both the grips and the gun need some cosmetic attention, but I couldn't pass it up. Not sure how I'm going to go about the refurbishment. I usually bead blast, but I think I'm going to do a light polishing.

This is the second post today that I have seen about an amazing deal (first was Model of 1950 .44 Military in NIB condition for $1k). Others far more expert than me will be along but I suspect the Combats on this revolver are worth the asking price alone.

The condition of the finish of the grips is poor. The wood is fine for the most part, but need new finish.

Have one like it I bought new in '84. Managed to hang on to box and paperwork.
Put Mr. Grashorns elk grips on it and changed out trigger and hammer for the target variety.
It really likes the "Skeeter load".
Great gun.

A refinish shouldn't be too tough. Soak the stocks in acetone and lightly sand with 0000 steel wool until they're cleaned up and the nicks and scratches are gone. Wipe with a damp cloth then a clean rag and when dry, refinish with Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil. (Your choice how many coats you do.) They'll be gorgeous when you get done.

You've got yourself a nice revolver. Something in .44 Special is high on my wish list. (Note: you might want to check this out, however, Thread: Model 624 Recall and "F" stamp.)
