I bought this gun over 3 months ago and i have put more than 1,000 round thru it with no issues. I went to sight in the laser this week since i have not really used it yet. i fired around 5 mags thru it then it just stopped working. I have changed the Batteries, played with the buttons, tried the fix i found via this forum yet it still does not work. I am considering sending it in but at the same time just not messing with it until something else goes wrong in the future... any ideas would be welcome

Have you considered contacting the mnfg of the laser??
S&W surely doesn't make it & while they may warrant it - it wouldn't hurt to try and calling the mnfg first.
A second thought - if you have an 'ole fashioned pencil with an eraser - rub the contact points for the battery and clean them of possible oxidation.

First, is the integrated laser unit made by Insight, or Crimson Trace? The newest BG380 have the CT units. You may have a model BG380 that is old stock! If it is the Insight unit, call CS and tell them yours is defective and they will send you a new CT unit! They replaced mine! Free of charge.

Great! If they can't help you, do the same for S&W. They will repair it, or send you a new one!
The good thing is you won't be without your piece. You can use it without the laser! I've had mine for over 2-yrs. and I shoot it at the range several times a month without. I don't use the laser ever. I just plugged up the holes in the poly dust cover in the frame and I'm good to go.

I don't know if this is related to your problem, but I bought a nice laser for my Beretta PX4 Storm and experienced similar problems.

However, I think mine was mainly due to battery power. The batteries would not run it long enough to sight it in. Maybe 5 minutes or less. It would keep dying.

I read this is common problem with lasers as they are not meant to be on for extended periods (longer than 10 secs at a time). While it is off, the batteries "regenerate" too.

Either way, it was worthless if I can't even sight it in, so I sent it back. I no longer have any interest in lasers anymore. I can shoot just as accurate without them so why bother.

I'm in agreement with you! A laser on a SD gun is a waste of money & time! If you need the gun in a hurry the BG is not going to "wait" while you attempt to turn it on!

thanks for the insight so far. ill keep this thread updated on what happens. fyi this was a gift (via a gift card) when i retired and its my EDC i prefer non laser but it was a deal on sale for the cost of a non laser at the time of purchase.

Called S&W and they were shocked a Crimson Trace failed but side since i have tried new batteries and other suggestions just drop the Laser in the mail with out batteries. mailed out 6/9/16

*S&W and CT say to remove the laser unit before cleaning the gun!

This is why I do not use the laser after all its a SD gun 21 ft or less.
