Ok I may e pushing these a little fast depending on what book you look at. These rounds were fired from trimed cases. There were fired from a Modern Win 94. The Muzzel velocity came out 2461fps.

My 2nd adddition Sierra Boss says this is ok but the much newer Lyman book says it is hot. Wadda Ya think.

They did make a nice tight group at 50yds.

I am constantly amazed at the rapid decline in the strength of American Firearms as indicated by loading manuals. Some day some one will catch on and save a lot of money by just cutting all the powder charges by 2% and calling it new data.

I'm even more amazed that the burning rate for propellants which have been in existence for 100 years or so have been changed, supposedly rendering classic loading data unreliable. For example, Hercules, now Alliant 2400.

Maybe a little off topic but it grinds my bones to no end.

Sorry.

The rifle did not "jump" when these loads were fired. The cases show now signs of over pressure. My shoulder did not ache after running out 6 rounds in rapid fire. (I ran out twenty(20) fo these rounds during testing including the ten (10) round chronographed).

The necks and case walls mic'd out right where these were suppose to be. I checked the cases for head seperations with a RCBS Case Master, also checking neck runout. I trimmed the cases to match the Lyman book. Lastly, I checked for bullet runout with the Case Master before crimping. (I like the Case Master set-up).

I will load more of these - I was only wondering who shot 125g .30-30 rounds and how they loaded theirs...

I load the 130gr Speers and love em. They group 1" or under, no pressure signs at all in my 340 or my 336. I use 35grs. H335. Good antelope load or mulie, for elk I would go to the 170gr.

I'm not so sure the strength of American firearms has declined as much as the fear of liability and advice by lawyers have increased as indicated by the loading manuals.
