As promised here's my latest build. I haven't fired it yet because it was completed yesterday. I was going for as small a package as possible and it came in at just under 24". The muzzle device adds a little extra length but is temporary I've got the paper work sent for a suppressor with quick detach when I receive that I'll switch it out. Rather then go through a complete explanation of the built I'll post pics of the various stages.

I REALLY want a 300 AR...but for some reason factory ammo is still really high. It's like when I switched from 45 auto to 9mm, I wanted more ammo for the $$. I have an AR pistol that I'd love to convert to 300, but paying $.50+/rd isn't something I want to do at the moment.

I currently have 2 9mm ARs pistols and they are definitely cheaper to shoot.
I just got a wild hair to have something different. At this time I don't even have any ammo for the .300 but have ordered 500 processed brass, dies and bullets so that will make a little cheaper. I've got lots of powder but none of it would work very well in the .300. so I'll to decide on that. I like the idea of the suppressed .300 with subsonic they are super quiet and your pushing 220 gr bullet the same speed as a 124 gr 9mm.

Where the .300 shines is if you have a suppressor or plan on one. .300 subs are nearly "movie quiet" with a rifle can. Supersonics aren't bad at all either.

Another advantage to the .300 is if you want or need something compact. They get up to their full practical velocity with a shorter barrel as compared to the 5.56. Dropping from 16" down to 7" or 8" with a 5.56 really hurts it's terminal performance, not so with the .300 Blackout.

This keeps coming up recently...once again, for myself here in Illinois, suppressors are 100% nope. Super-sucky.

I have a silly 7.5" AR pistol...mostly worthless, really. Tons of velocity loss, LOTS of noise, before I popped on a vortex flash hider...tons of flash, too.

If 300 doesn't come down in price, I'll probably land up converting my pistol to 9mm here sooner or later.

Then again...maybe I should just sell the thing and get a Scorpion EVO and call it a day.

The .300 would be a little pricey to shoot if you have to buy factory loaded ammo, I roll my own so it puts the ammo at a price that's more reasonable still not as cheap as a 9mm though.

What price/rd are you seeing reloading that round?

Processed brass is costing me 10c per, powder about 6c, primer 4c and bullets depend a lot on type and manufacture. I'm going to start with supersonic 135gr Sierra's at 28c per, so with those components I'm looking at right around 50c. If your willing to process .556 brass yourself it would cut the price down and there are cheaper bullets you could use.
My thoughts are that you could get the price pre round down to about 35c if you shopped the deals.

I bought Top Brass, reformed military at Cabela's just over 22 cents each. Berry's plated 220 grain for just under 23 cents. With WW196 takes less than 10 grains of powder (bought is 8 pound keg for 410 shotgun) and WSR primers at $33/K. Comes to just less than 53 Cents for sub sonic first loading. Remington factory Subsonic was 13.99/20 (70 cents). If I can reuse/find the fired brass should be 30 cents a round to reload.

I played with forming some brass to get a feel for it. I defiantly could save money, but I see 250 of so as a lifetime supply (if I can recover them!)

About 20 years ago, I made 200, 30 Mauser (7.65x25mm) brass from processed military 223 cases, in a little over an hour. These 7.62x33mm cases would be about the same or less work! Those 200 cases have lasted just fine so far! Being a little bigger, these SHOULD be easier to find. I also have an AR brass catcher (no such thing for the broom handle!)

Sellier and Bellot brass cased boxer primed 147gr FMJ supersonic loads are 51 cents a round delivered from Target Sports USA if you are prime ammo member.
Part number SB300BLKB

I bought a couple of cases and so far so good.

You can also get Fiocchi 150 gr FMJ brass case boxer primed for 50 cents a round. Part number 300BLKC
I haven't shot the Fiocchi supersonic but I have shot their subsonic from this line and it has been good to go.

The Saint 300 BO Pistol is my next purchase, I know the ammo is way pricy, but I'm going to suppress it and use it as a home defense weapon. I have my 556 pistol for the range. I know I could build one for half the price of the Saint, but getting the gas down correctly especially when suppressing it is very tricky.

I haven't started to work up any subsonic loads yet because it will be a few months before my suppressor is approved. I'll probably use AA# 1680 powder because it seems to work well for sub and supersonic loads.

In Central Ohio, AA1680 is expensive and sort of rare, so I save it for 22 Hornet and 221 Fireball WW296/H110 are common and reasonable!

I know heavy 30 cal bullets use a lot of lead, but most places are pricing the Sierra's like they have gold in the cores! The heaviest my "Stash" had in it were 190 Match Hornady. I used a few on a 308 Win. Sub sonic project a couple of years ago, the net result was: 300 Blackout made it a waste of resources!

I bought my suppressor with an original transfer date of July 1983. It took 6 months back then. Nobody used them at that time. Now everybody carries them and the prices have tripled. The cans are smaller, but not as effective. Mine is almost twice as lone as you regularly see but much quieter. I sit next to guys shooting super sonic 223 at the range and you hear some "explosion" noise, mine is just the super-sonic crack (like a 22 high Velocity). With sub-sonic ammo, all you hear from mine is the firing pin and action noise, plus maybe the empty case hitting heard ground.

Natchez had free hazmat last week so I ordered 3lbs of 1680 at 24.49 each. I needed some small pistol and rifle primer also so I got 5000 each of those in the same shipment. You are correct Sierra bullets are a bit pricey but I've worked up many test loads using all type of bullets for my rifles and Sierra almost always comes in at the top of the bunch for accuracy.

I like it, the wood accent is a nice touch. Is the upper a PSA? They use that type of muzzle device on many of their uppers and kits.

No, it is a Springfield Armory Saint Pistol 7.5" .556, just with a lot of up-grades made to it.

My 300 BLK pistol deer hunting rig. I didn’t build it, just slapped a PSA upper onto a PSA lower :), topped with a PA red dot.
I have another PSA lower on the way, might do an SBR, maybe just a carbine.
