Just received a new 325 Thunder Ranch today, my hand loads and factory loads are not all going off with each moon clip. First I thought it may be hard primers from my hand loads. Then I put some Winchester factory loads through it, and a few times two per moon clip would not fire. A few times the rounds would go off on the second hit.
Going to visit my gunsmith on Monday.............
Disappointed as this is a performance center gun.......

1st thing I would do is to check the hamer tension screw under the grips. That may not be the correct term.

Most of the Performance Center guns have a power rib main spring. On round butt guns I have found that the factory strain screw is not long enough most likely due to the screw seating in the rib of the spring. I change out the screw with a set screw from McMaster Carr and adjust until 100% reliability is achieved. I've had this issue on more than one gun.

Many possible causes for light strikes & failure to fire.

For me the firing pin length has been the main culprit.

The ones that are shorter than .490" are problematic.

Ideally they're in the .495-.498" range.

I install a aftermarket longer firing pin on models with this problem & it's always fixed it.

C&S make a longer one at ~.510" & Apex has one at ~.500".

I've never had to change out a mainspring screw but a worn or defective/wrong one could definitely cause troubles.

The correct mainspring screw runs ~.526" overall length while the threaded portion runs ~.396" long.

.

My TR325 has an older style Apex with the rounded nose in it.
The later versions had pointed noses which I don't like.

Update: I just received the J-frame Apex spring kit I ordered for my 340PD.

The current provided firing pin has the broad/rounded nose (again) & it measured .508" long. (The factory S&W firing pin measured .491")

It's all good (again). :)
