I just got a new 329pd that rattles when you shake it. Sounds like its coming from somewhere between the cylinder release and the hammer. Is that normal or should I take it to a gunsmith to check it out?

Thanks for your help!

umm honestly I would take off the sideplate with an exploded diagram and figure out what the hell is wrong with my gun, but I am good at that type of stuff, I would send it in or get a copy of AGI's smith and wesson revolver armorors course

Don't take it apart....!

The rattle is perfectly normal, it's just the hammer block.

Unless the gun is malfunctioning, ignore it and enjoy it.

I understand the concern. This happened to me when I bought my 629-5 Classic 5" last year. After research and with the help of the S&W Forum I found out that this is normal--no need to worry. Fire away! ...and, as stated above...please don't take apart. :)
