The higher prices start at the 22LR caliber(k22).
The s&w k22. 6" barrel skyrocketing from $595/$1,500+ 99% blued to be worth $1,200 already. With box/accessories pre k22
The s&w m28 HP 6" barrel average $695 +/- blued 99% to me there worth $1,000 already
The s&w m27. 6" barrel average $795 +/- blued 99% to me there worth $1,200 already
This is just my thinking on what the actual prices are now if someone was selling one.
My limit is under $1,000 for used. But to fill a gap I may consider paying a tad more.
You should be happy and cherish dearly what we already have for sure. Your sitting on gold. The higher prices won't change my want list but I may look at the brand new ones first. The high prices will slow down my buying for sure.
I think from the posts here the 357 Magnums are very collectable and highly sought after now. When the offerings slow down and they become harder to find that's when the prices will really soar.
I'm starting to think about a Rossi revolver for a shooter and ccw carry. The s&w prices will soar enough to buy a car. The python prices are there already.
I haven't seen a used colt, ruger, or s&w revolver locally in four decades. Never a one. They just aren't seen or if they were they sold in minutes. The people who purchased them new were hanging on to them.
