Anyone know what a Thompson Super 14 Contender Barrel chambered in Remington 357 Max in excellent condition is worth? I searched GB and various other sites and could not find one for sale. Apparently this caliber is somewhat obscure and the TC Custom shop no longer makes them. Many thanks

Years ago I knew a couple guys in IHMSA using them. Have seen a few of the Ruger revolvers surface now & then. Pretty obscure for sure.

I have several TC's in various calibers, including the .357 Rem. Max. The barrel cost me about $200 several years ago. Could bring more now. Very accurate, powerful caliber. They are a little scarce. I believe Ruger also chambered one of their SA revolvers in this caliber. Hope this helps. Skip48 :)

I shot a max for years, Contender, and it killed wild Boar in Tennessee
like the hog had been hit by lightning. My buddy still deer
hunts with his here in Indiana. Can't say what the barrels are
worth but it's a good hard hitting cartridge. Hope this helps
you on choosing one.

As mentioned, Ruger made a super blackhawk in 357 max & Dan Wesson also made a revolver in the max. The chambering was reported to be more than in reality & soon shooters realized that T/C contenders in 35 rem shoot the same bullet with the same results & brass is a lot more common. In the revolvers, flame cutting of the top strap was feared to be excessive & because of bad press, Ruger did a recall. I believe this stopped Dan Wesson's production also.

As for value, I would go by a similar barrel in 35 rem + a small % for the cool factor.

I've also got some brass if you want some to reload.
PM me if you might want some.
In the contender, the .357 max is a very good choice IMHO
