Was at the Gun Club this morning and mentioned that I bought a .38-40 Single Action, and needed some ammo for it. One of the guys said he had a 50 round box of Winchester .38-40 he would sell to me as he had no use for it. $35.00. I couldn't be happier.
I ordered 250 rounds of Starline brass (on back order), and have plenty of .401" jacketed bullets on hand. Need to order a set of dies now.

Starline's backorder wait is pretty quick, or has been for the past several months.

You're going to love the caliber!

Oh I do like the caliber. At one time I had a 1st Generation Colt SAA in .38-40, but sold it off.
Had the dies too and sold them also.:(
Just ordered dies from Precision Reloading and the Dillon caliber setup for the 550B. I should be all set.

I bought a couple of boxes of vintage 38-40 recently at a gun show just to have, and I don't even own a gun in the caliber--yet! Also have a set of dies. Both are perfect excuses to start looking for a new gun.

If you can find 44-40 brass easier it works fine for the 38-40. In today's madness I doubt either one is readily available.
