You guys gave me so much info on my pre 24 that I would like for you to have a go at this one. I think it is probably a very nice restore. Bought on Gunbroker about 3 years ago. The left grip frame has a Z and the numeral 8 but can't see it in the pictures. The only numbers on the cylinder is the serial number. There in no N anywhere that I can find. The pearl grips have no markings.

Yup! It's worthless. You should send it to me.:D

I'd agree that it was refinished.

Also, it looks like the two of your screws got the old swaparoo at some point. Screws one and two seem to be in each other's spots.

Nice looking job, I bet it's an absolute hoot to take out in the woods and blast some bowling pins with.

Well, if I could see the other side of the frame, I might stick my neck out and agree with the refinish consensus. As it stands, I say a definite I don't know---and if I ever have a gun refinished, I want whoever did this (if anybody) to do mine.

I agree that it is an excellent job, but if you have a look at that side plate it does show the signs.

It is a decent job, just below a Factory refin.
The hammer and trigger have chemical coloring applied to simulate case colors. They were not case hardened again.

Show us a pic of the front sight. It MAY have been altered to a ramp from a half moon.

The second picture above has a pretty picture of the sight. Will get a closer one tomorrow from a different angle. Also will try for a better shot of the left grip frame.

I have a .38/44 that the previous owner had refinished. He also had the hammer and trigger re-case colored. You can tell, like the OP's gun, that it wasn't done at the factory.
