I aquired some .38 lead ball 149-138gr..? short brass jacket smooth bore rounds for my K-Frame. They don't fit the cylinder of the 10-5 I have. WTH? I thought all .38 rounds fit all .38's. I have a fluted barrel on mine, not sure if that matters. Help. Thanks.

Your Model 10 is a .38 Special. There are other .38 rounds such as the .38 S&W or .38-200 which are not compatible. Same thing for 9mm, there are lots of non compatible versions.

Sounds like you have 38 S&W not 38 special. The 38S&W are shorter and a little bigger around. 36 caliber if memory serves.

.38 long jacket wadcutters work great. I'll find out what these remington's are and be back after lunch in an hour and a half. My gun is a s&w 10-5 2" snubbie. I have another stainless round that looks like it would work but these ather ones are short and blunt/stubbie looking.
Thanks.

See the Attachment for the rounds that don't fit 10-5 s&w.

Those should fit the 38 special. It says 38 special right on the box. Unles someone has swapped out the contents with something else, which I doubt.

REM-UMC 38 S&W Kleanbore Rounds do not fit my S&W 10-5 2" snub.
Anyone know why?

So this makes sense:

The title of this thread says "Smoothbore 38 Ammo"

I thought that was interesting because .38 ammo is shot through a rifled barrel. Now I see nothing about it in the thread. Very confusing.

Kleanbore, sorry. I've solved my problem thank you. .38 S&W for non-special .38's because S&W are fatter. .38 special round are special because they fit .38 specials I guess.
