Hello
Most of the 38 Special reviews that I did were shot with two guns.
A Taurus 85 Ulta Lite 2 inch barrel and a Smith & Wesson model 15 with a 4 inch barrel.
First I do forensic exam of the ammunition. Next I shoot a group while chronographing with each gun. 10 yards with the 2 inch Taurus 85 and 25 yards with the 4 inch Model 15. Chronograph is a Oehler 35P
Then the ammunition is shot out of each gun into a 55 gallon plastic barrel of water. The bullets are then recovered, photographed and then measured for expansion. In cases where the bullet fragments and loses its jacket, a weight is taken with all the recovered material and also a weight taken with just the lead core.
Here is the link to all the photos of the review;

The bullet was barely hanging on from the 2 inch test but did separate from the 4 inch test. Fairly predictable performance with this offering from Remington.

Thanks for the tests/reviews!

I had to look up what a BJHP is. "Brass Jacketed Hollow Point". Isn't guilding metal used for most jacketed bullet a form of brass??? About 95% copper and 5% zinc?

Hmm.. I always understood the B stood for 'bonded'..

In the Remington lineup it means Bonded jacket. The golden Sabre is my 45 auto carry ammunition. It performs very well. I have never found any 9mm. I carry the old Winchester Black Talon or new Silver Tip...same bullet...different coating.
I also carry 9mm Gold Dots in my SiG 365...accurate

Remington says BJHP stands for Brass Jacketed.

If it was bonded it would have performed better in the OP’s test.

Seems like a pretty good offering

Enjoyed the report on the Remington round. The 38 Special has always been somewhat marginal, especially in the short barrels, and conservative loads, so we do see a lot of efforts to push it to the max capability, where it can be a much more effective round. I would like to see 1000FPS with this bullet weight to have a little more confidence in the terminal performance. 6.4 grains though is probably close to max for the standard pressure round...Wonder what powder they used? Thanks again.

Remington is currently marketing their Golden Saber under several different banners. Golden Saber Defense, Golden Saber Defense Compact, and Golden Saber Bonded. I do recall that when Remington first introduced the Golden Saber, it was marketed as "brass jacketed".
