I want to know can 38 super be converted to a 9MM by switching the barrel and new mags? The gun in question is a Rock Island 1911 style. I know it’s not a Smith. But you guys know everything.

An old friend that has passed, had a Colt 1911 in 38 Super and shot 9MM Largo thru it. He had a 9MM Luger barrel and spring that he shot also on that frame. I think he used the same mag with all 3 calibers.
Yes.
Chances are your mags will work both ways. If you get a drop in barrel/bushing combo your ready(which will require some fitting). Buy at least one mag.
Fellow can to last Sat IDPA with a 1911 that was sporting a new 9mm barrel to replace the 38 super barrel. It had been fitted by a gunsmith, which I recommend you do also. Timing and fitting are especially picky on 9mm in 1911.
Yes it will work. I bought my son a Wilson Combat CQB in .38 Super and also with a 9mm ramped barrel and magazines. You might want to call them to get details you need.
